As luck would have it, my local music store lead me to this Kala model. I agree with everything you said abut it. My hands are small, but I don't find it clunky or heavy. Maybe I just don't know any better. I love this instrument. The sound is well balances, focused, and mellow. I just can't get enough of it.Janie Bionaznoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4724767841739249964.post-728067937353309412017-03-25T04:38:42.736+00:002017-03-25T04:38:42.736+00:00I've been torn between getting a classical gui...I've been torn between getting a classical guitar again and getting a baritone uke. The cedar top really sways me to the bari. Some people hate some brands that others like and vice versa - yet they are all right. Your playing style and your own ears have too much say in what strings work. I have a set of Aquila baritone strings at home that are two wound, two nylgut and the Cordoba Mini set I use has three wound, three nylgut. I hope that clears that up! Thanks for the review - I do like a cedar top, would like to try this baritone at some point.James / Pirate Jim (UU)noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4724767841739249964.post-33994903261588602222017-03-19T11:19:27.490+00:002017-03-19T11:19:27.490+00:00I bought one of these last year,(for £210), great ...I bought one of these last year,(for £210), great sounding instrument, really warm & mellow tone. The 20.25" scale is a stretch for my hands, but I mainly pick melody lines, so it's OK. I can use it without a strap quite comfortably. I don't like wound strings, so immediately changed them for Living Water flourocarbons - I think this is the best uke I have tone wise. Really pleased with mine. :)Keith / uke1950noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4724767841739249964.post-44360408629801634772017-03-19T10:50:02.602+00:002017-03-19T10:50:02.602+00:00I have just brought this model i love it i had a b...I have just brought this model i love it i had a blind test alongside a pono which was £100 dearer and I preferred the more mellow sound from the kala..the photos do not to it justice. Must have a look at the Kala baritone uke someday. I much prefer the sound of a baritone to a standard uke.Barry's OCA Music Foundation Bloghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12293607487140770809noreply@blogger.com
