Joined a beginners group and off I go. Today I found a mahalo NR 11P made in Indonesia again in a charity shop for £1.50!! It’s got Aquila strings, is lighter has a better finish and quality - it’s prob only approx £15 more than the Smith one when new but looks and feels much better. I will no doubt upgrade to a concert one if I get on with learning to play it well. I can’t find any reviews on it so My Q is although prob not much to choose between them which should I stick with for now ? Thank you for any advice you can offer. At least the ones you trialled have geared tuning pegs, the Lidle ones seem to rely on friction to hold their tuning but of course as soon as you put tension on the strings the friction ' gives'.
