I will invest in a few other tools and see what I can do. It was possible to do this for a few years, by treating it like a slot style bridge. I agree it makes no sense to do this, and both repair shops told me they had never seen anything like that before.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4724767841739249964.post-5999602686714993182023-10-28T09:53:39.560+01:002023-10-28T09:53:39.560+01:00I'd be using a specific tool for the job - a p...I'd be using a specific tool for the job - a peg puller, and giving it a bit of a tap. Might need a bit more force than you think, but it must work. Often my guitar pins feel like they are welded in place, but they are not. But I repeat - a ukulele that cannot have the pins removed is a pointless object. I know many owners of Cocobolo instruments over the years and if this was a common problem people would be screaming about itBarry Mazhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15731777711884288947noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4724767841739249964.post-58077327166992198442023-10-28T09:51:28.131+01:002023-10-28T09:51:28.131+01:00Sorry, still don't believe that for a minute o...Sorry, still don't believe that for a minute or something is lost in translation. There is no benefit or purpose to glueing bridge pins in place. Why would you make a ukulele that was impossible to change strings?

What he might have said is he used a tiny dab of light glue to seat them, as builders often do with the nut in it's slot, but should be easily removed with a peg puller.Barry Mazhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15731777711884288947noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4724767841739249964.post-91970261462562063612023-10-28T01:22:20.899+01:002023-10-28T01:22:20.899+01:00I spoke with Kevin Keith who made this ukulele and...I spoke with Kevin Keith who made this ukulele and he confirmed that the bridge pins were indeed glued.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4724767841739249964.post-8779772307616255542023-10-26T19:46:21.068+01:002023-10-26T19:46:21.068+01:00I sincerely doubt they are glued. In fact I will categorically state they are not - that would ludicrous thing to do - bridge pins often stick - i've had this issue with guitar pins for years. Unfortunately, this luthier makes ukuleles with pin bridges in which the pins are glued into place on the bridge. Essentially, now that a string is stuck in the bridge of my tenor, this means I now need to create a whole new bridge for the instrument or else it is unplayable. I never would have thought this was necessary but buyers should ask any luthier making ukuleles with bridge pins whether they have glued the pins in place (I would not recommend glued pin bridges, of course). They weren't created exactly equal. They run more one of a kind. It makes the other ukes in my collection seem a bit sub par. I've played it 3 weeks now and find this tenor magically alive.
