My Tanglewood has the 3 crown head. To me that look is what marks ukes as ukes. Its like its USP. The number of points on the crown also had meaning, 1, 2, and 3 are the most common, but there was also a 4 and a 5. I do not recall what they stood for, perhaps a luthier familt or may be the island where it was made. With the popularity in the '20, mainland manufactures violated the tabu and started to crown their instruments as well. At this time, I thing the meaning is lost.CSpinkshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04413903958311063548noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4724767841739249964.post-4265374979074107722017-04-14T15:11:43.361+01:002017-04-14T15:11:43.361+01:00If I remember correctly the classic Martin uke had...If I remember correctly the classic Martin uke had a plain flat headstock design. Actually, my Kala has the Martin style headstock. My other two ukes have 2 points, but look a little boring. Funny that my dream uke - KoAloha - has an awesome headstock, but I initially thought it was a bit too fancy - needless to say it's grown on me.Glennnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4724767841739249964.post-11666810452315018362017-03-08T10:46:09.944+00:002017-03-08T10:46:09.944+00:00Nice ob's... Maybe it was something to do with the Hawaiian Royal family and their love of the ukulele? But that's just speculation on my part. Great article. Thank you.Bernard Morrisnoreply@blogger.com
