Fitting A Strap Button to A Ukulele

Wanting to use a ukulele strap? You may well benefit from fitting a ukulele strap button then. So a video -  A step by step video guide to fitting a strap button to a uke.

Why would you do this yourself? Because it's easy, that's why!! I really don't want to get into the pros and cons of ukulele straps - it's a pointless debate. I like them, some don't... People seem to be scared about doing this - it's really not hard!

Enjoy

  2. Brilliant thanks, didn't realise it was so easy! Completely unrelated - which strings do you have on your Zedro?? I love the Worth Browns when playing at home but I just seem to be drowned out in my uke class by the lovely Noahs and Mainland. I know nothing about strings!

  3. Currently have Seaguar Blue Label fishing line on the Zedro.

  4. I have a Kiwaya KCT-1. The guy who sold it to me did not think it was a good idea to get a button fitted, seemed to think it would devalue it.
Only started playing a few months ago, have a tendency to grip too hard and produce awful squeaks. Tried the mobius strap and the uke leash without much success. Very tempted to get a button fitted for a full strap but I am fearful of spoiling a fine instrument - any advice?

  5. People like the person who advised you make me so angry. yes, I 'suppose' that if you add a button you affect the value of it selling it on - but I dont personally buy ukuleles with the only thing that matters being the price of selling it on - I buy them to play them. What's more important? The price of selling it on or the ability to play it?

only you can make that choice - not the person advising !!

  6. Thanks Barry - my thoughts exactly! As a newbie I am somewhat fearful of doing something disastrous. I am struggling to hold it as I have arthritis in my hands, a strap would help a lot. Cheers!

    1. Yes, very easily - though of course you will leave a hole where the screw was.
